Bonds Wentworthville is the head office for Bonds Industries. The site is on approx 79000 square metres and was established in 1915 by George A. Bond, it is situated 30 kilometres west from the Sydney CBD.
Wentworthville employs 450 staff members in all major operations of the business, including: Senior administration, Sales, Marketing, Planning, HR, Design and Customer service. It has an archive on site including historical and Olympic memorabilia.
The site also houses Pacific Brands Shared Services (which is the company's accounts department), the Bonds Dye house, Knitting operations and Cutting floor (which supplies cut work to our mills in Cessnock and Unanderra), and a factory outlet which is open seven days.
Cessnock, NSW - Manufacturing Factory - Bonds mill has been a major industry in Cessnock district and is a vital part of the local community. Bonds began manufacturing in Cessnock in 1947 in the old movie theatre in the main street.
By 1956 our operation had expanded so much, the mill was relocated to a larger facility at the Dri Glo towel building. In 1970 the building was extended to meet ever growing demand. We at this time employed approx 400 people and where one of the largest employers of women in the district. The garments produced in these early years were swimwear, outer wear, ladies dresses, fancy baby wear. Now in 2002 with the introduction of advanced technology and the use of just in time principles Bonds have become an innovative and progressive producer. Remaining the last largest textile manufacturer in the district, Bonds Cessnock produce approx 18,000 garments per day. These garments being made up of our famous Bonds Cottontail, mens S'port brief, men's T-shirts and womens cotton lycra briefs.
Unanderra, NSW - Factory - The Bonds' Unanderra factory is situated on the south coast of NSW near Wollongong. It is primarily a make up and packaging facility producing approximately 55,000 garments per day or 12 million garments per year.
Bonds fabrics are made from Australian grown cotton which are knitted, dyed and cut at Wentworthville. Cut work is sent twice daily from Wentworthville to Unanderra, our finished product is then transferred to the central distribution centre at Minto.
Unanderra is now the only south coast site, employing 200 people on a one shift operation, producing Chesty Athletic singlets, womens and babies vests, as well as mens T- shirts.
